Exciting Finale Marks the Closure of the 1st Jeddah International Youth Chess Festival
The Young Masters event, a pivotal component of the 1st Jeddah International Youth Chess Festival 2024, concluded with an impressive final round. It showcased remarkable talent and intense competition among young chess prodigies, with Erdogmus Yagiz Kaan, a 12-year-old prodigy from Turkey, emerging as the Champion in this closed tournament held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Besides strong GMs, the tournament featured rising stars like Jaime Rey Martinez, who competed fiercely alongside other world-class talents.

In the thrilling Round 9, GM Murzin delivered an outstanding performance by defeating the tournament winner, IM Erdogmus. This victory secured GM Murzin's 2nd place, alongside GM Sadhwani and IM Woodward. The match between Pravav and Seemann had its share of ups and downs, ultimately ending in a draw.

WGM Candela Francisco, the World Junior Champion U20 at only age 17, concluded the tournament on a positive note, securing a draw against IM Klimkowski. Meanwhile, FM Rey Martinez showcased exceptional skills in a fantastic game, defeating the young FM Faustino Oro. Although Faustino did not achieve the desired score, the experience gained will undoubtedly contribute to his growth as a player.

A special congratulations to IM Andy Woodward, who secured a draw in his last game, sharing 2nd place and achieving his third and final GM norm. This accomplishment reflects his dedication and skill in the world of chess.
